Garden at Still Crazy Herb Farm

Still Crazy Herb Farm History

I planted my first two lemon balm plants in my back door garden in 2002.  After a friend advised it made a good herbal tea, I began cutting and drying my plants and produced a wonderfully delicious herbal infusion that became a favorite of myself, friends, and neighbors.  After several years of increasing demand, Randy and I decided to try our hand at the business of raising lemon balm and producing the dried herbal tea for sell to the public.

We planted nearly 1,000 lemon balm plants in the spring of 2005.  All of our plants were raised by us from seed, transplanted into 4” pots in our own greenhouse, and then planted into the garden.  Although not certified as organic growers, we only use organic products in our garden.  We planted our second garden of lemon balm in the spring of 2006 and harvested garden No. 1 that May.  We are pleased to say that our lemon balm tea has been very well received by tea lovers and we sell out our harvests each year.

In 2007 we started two beds of chocolate mint from cuttings from one plant.  We harvested and processed our first crop of chocolate mint in July 2008.  Chocolate mint is a variety of perppermint that has a hint of chocolate in its aroma.  It makes a lusty, strongly aromatic tea that excites all of our mint tea lovers.  We have sold out of our first harvest and hope to double production in 2009.

I hand pick, wash, and process my herbal teas into a dried loose-leaf form.  We package our herb in a high quality decorative tin pretty enough to display on your kitchen counter.  Because we sell our herb loose leafed, we also sell loose-leaf tea-brewing accessories we have selected from the better known tea companies in the U.S, Europe, and the Orient.

We call our tiny herb farm in Howe, Texas “Still Crazy” and sell our herbal tea under the name “Grayson County Herbal Tea Company”.  Being a small company, we only accept checks and cash.  We have 26 varieties of herbs in our gardens used for flavor, aroma, and comfort, including anise, chamomile, comfry, cone flower, fennel, lavender, lemon grass, mullin, mugwart and yarrow.  We welcome visitors to our farm.
